I was looking forward to having a nephew, but it is not always so pleasant being around him because his parents (my brother and sister-in-law) are inconsistent about disclplining him and don't agree.

It sounds like your Brother is a "disney dad'.

Hugs to you and your SIL.

Your nephew sounds like a little male chauvanist in training, and his father is encouraging it since he seems to mostly be getting away with showing his mother no respect.

(((HUGS))). If your brother doesn't change his ways about parenting and start treating his wife right, he just might find himself alone with a 5 year old monster. Your SIL must have the patience of a saint to put up with that crap.

I agree with everyone, but one thing made me feel a little sorry for the kid!

His cousin came to nephew's 4th b.d. party with a scooter birthday boy couldn't ride. What was that mom thinking?

I agree with tobylady!!!

My nephew is the same way & is older than my son...a horrible influence. I do my best to limit their contact and when they are at our house, we play by our rules.

As for his hair...just wait til he goes to school & the other kids give him a hard time....he'll care then!!!

I suggest you step in and show you SIL and DB how to parent, just like supernanny does. Observe, then step in, then explain what you did and why. I always amazes me that by the end of every supernanny episode, the kids are in love with supernanny. I had to do the same thing with my nephew's and nieces. Now they respect their parents and others in my presence and they honor and love me.

You DB needs to support his wife.

I disagree with your advice.
