I am 5 months into a 1 year contract job that I really hate. I hate the commute, the work atmosphere and never seeing my hubby because he works a totally opposite shift.

I think I would tell him that the lack of communication is impeding your job performance.

I am really trying to bring in work for my freelance business that will keep me busy. I got a big job that will last 3 months and there may be another fairly large job coming but I still don't know if it's enough to say quit if I'm only going to have a decent paycheck for 3 months. Oh how I would love to leave this contract job early. It says (and I checked with the temp agency) that I can leave at any time without notice or a reason.

Why don't you try taking the lead?

I would concentrate on the big job and the other job that may be coming up. I doubt you are getting anything out of this experience, except a steady paycheck. You are not gaining any new experience on this project, because there is no communication and you don't seem to like the work at all. I also doubt this guy will ever give you a good reference. This is the risk you must take when freelancing. I used to turn some clients down. I always ate, my bills were paid, but I had to be a go-getter in order to always have work coming in.
