I need some help, my wedding is coming up in Sept my bridesmaids are wearing a dark midnight purple cocktail dress and my dress is ivory the groomsmen are black with cream vests and purple ties. My mom is wearing something taupe or cream coloured and my MIL is wearing coral!!! is it just me or is coral a terrible color to blend well with the colors in my wedding. I'd like everything to match nicely and her not sticking out like a sore thumb I also don't think its a very fall color please someone give me some suggetions on what you think
San
Did she know of your color choices before she bought the dress? Or did she know of your desire for things to match.
Actually, that may not be an unpleasant color combination. No it won't blend, the colors will definitely contrast, but if the colors work together then it will look fine. And you will be front and center with your ivory dress in strong contrast to everybody else.
I would probably just let it go, and focus on the things that are within your control.
I think she'll stick out being in a coral dress but the colours
Thank you all for your advice, I think I am just going to let it be but in response to who mentioned someone wearing a dress that looked like they were going to the bar she is totally one of those ''I don't want to look like an old mom'' type of people and had sent me pictures of dresses that were way above the knee soooo it could be interesting lol. but yes Im going to let it play out itself and hope for the best at least for now anyway lol. Again thank you all so much :)
Congratulations on you upcoming wedding. Your post reminded me of my own wedding. So I will share my MIL dress story with you. The wedding was in the fall. Colors were off white, black and deep purple. My mother wore a deep red dress and my MIL was wearing a burgandy dress - until about a week before the wedding and she changed it to a mint green summer dress w/ flowers embroided on it (it was a nice dress, but not in the color scheme) I let it go. OK fine. Wedding day were all lined up for pictures and my mom took off her shoes- you could not notice because her dress was floor lenth, well my MIL takes off her shoes, her dress was tea length..... after several people telling her to put her shoes on - and she kept saying "Well so and so has hers off" and refused to put them back on. So needless to say I have family wedding photos with her barefoot... I laugh at them now because it looks ridiculous but at the time I was furious. That was the first of her drama that day... LOL
Good luck!
I'm glad you've chosen to let it go.
All eyes are going to be on you, the bride. Nobody is going to give a hoot what the MIL is wearing.
And on your ten year anniversary, when you look back on your photos, you will wonder why you wasted your energy worrying about such things instead of just enjoying your day and the days leading up to your wedding.
This is a wonderful time in your life that you will never have again. Once it's over, it's over. And it goes in a flash.
Congrats!
