Who's doing the inviting.......

So I have invited a few family members to go on a shopping trip and find out from my daughter that my son has invited his cousin's wife to join us. Shouldn't my son be asking me first if that's OK? I have spent very little time with her and to go on an all day shopping trip. I have not talked to him yet. Should I go ahead and confront him or wait to see if he asks? I don't want to hurt her feelings if he has already made the plans. If he has shouldn't he be the one to

The shopping trip maybe a great way to get to know her better.

This is a traditional trip taken around or after Thanksgiving and I think I really only want those I invited to go and felt "caught off guard" that he would make plans without asking first. I would never dream of inviting someone without asking first and have difficulty understanding why he would do this.

Thanks for the advice.

I suppose since this is a shopping trip with no constraints (such as lack of space, or costing money), he assumed it would be okay. A lot of young people, guys in particular, need to read some Emily Post columns. I would cut him some slack as far as this is concerned. You might find out she's a great woman!

Since you do not really know her that well, I think this shopping trip is a good time to get to know her. I wouldnt make a big deal out of it.
