Another wedding?

My husband and I have been together for 13 years, married for 6. I'm thinking of another wedding for our 10 yr anniv. I want the ceremony, dinner, and reception. We were poor college kids when we got married, footing about 80% of the $20k bill. We never went on a honeymoon. For the past year I've been feeling like getting married again, and it doesn't help that there have been so many weddings around me lately! lol I'll admit it - I tried on my wedding dress tonight and I'm still in love with it. I bounced the idea off some coworkers a while back and they all said it's selfish and pathetic. I wish more people took their vows seriously and renewed them every so often. What are your thoughts? Another wedding or no?

We are thinking of having another wedding for our 20 yr anniversary. But our first one was very small and we only spent $8K. There are many other things we'd rather spend our money tho so it will depend on how things go. We'll probably do something like a backyard renewal w/a large party afterwards. I think the whole formal thing would be kind of weird...plus, it might be a tad selfish to ask your MOH, parents, etc to buy dresses and get gifts all over again...depends on the expectations.

Hi & welcome to the board :)

I think that is wonderful you want to renew your vows.
Doesn't have to be a big wedding either if you want.
We renewed our vows on our 25th anniversary.
We went on a cruise with our kids & had the captain do the ceremony.
It was fabulous & we loved it!
Good luck & let us know what you decide :)

I guess I should have said that - no gifts or wedding party!!! I like the idea of a backyard thing and a big party. I guess I'm wanting more party than anything else.

Yes, me too. My hubby picked all the music for our wedding and NO ONE liked any of it. He has really off the beaten path stuff that you have to work to find...but it's hard to relax and enjoy yourself to music that no one has ever heard before! People were pulling out their MP3s to help us...d'oh!!!!!

I've been talking to my husband about the idea of having a vow renewal ever since we got married.

Have you thought about combining the anniversary party with a vow renewal? If you aren't set on having the walk-down-the-aisle moment, maybe you could plan a really awesome anniversary party, and have a few moments set aside
