I am so sorry that you are having to deal with all of this.
From the way you describe it, it sounds like your best options are to cancel the destination wedding and elope later to a different location or remove the expectation of guests and have the destination wedding with just the two of you.
The most important thing is that you will be married to one another. If you have ways to make that feel special, do them!
So sorry to hear all this & you having to deal with it, I do agree that cancelling the wedding is a smart idea. Maybe elope when you know it is the right time. Lots of hugs & postive thoughts .. let us know what you decide :)
I was getting a lot of advice from a different wedding forum to throw together a quick wedding for just my family in my dad's state so he can witness it. A wedding is the least of his worries, same for my mom. That's the last thing anyone needs - to put on a fake happy face when we all know what is going to happen. I also don't want my wedding to be like that.
Thank you. I have bouts of tears scattered throughout the day thinking of my dad.
Our families have never met yet so we're thinking of ways they could come to us summer 2013 perhaps.
But I have to get my thesis done and out of the way before dad's passes. I cannot imagine trying to finish that up under the state I will be in soon. Ceasing the wedding planning is kind of a godsend at this moment. I have a lot on my plate.
