Do you and DH wear your rings?

Yesterday on the radio, they were talking about the fact that Prince William will not be wearing a wedding ring after he and Kate Middleton wed later this month.

When I mentioned it to my mom, she said it has always bothered her that my dad doesn't wear his wedding ring. That surprised me. My dad made his living as a mechanic so it could have been dangerous to have a ring on while he was working; if a piece of equipment fell on his hand, it could catch his ring, crush his finger or do even worse damage.

My mom said she understood him not wearing his ring at work but he doesn't wear it when they go out, on vacations or now that he's semi-retired. She said she finally quit reminding him because it's clear that he doesn't want to wear it.

My DH wears his ring most days to work (occasionally he forgets) but he usually takes it off when he gets home in the evening. It doesn't bother me too much when he's not wearing it although I will joke with him that it's not that easy to consider himself "unmarried". LOL

So, does your DH wear a ring on a regular basis? Do you? Is it an issue for either of you?

Good topic, RoseAnn - I'm interested to hear everyone's thoughts on this!

DH always wears his ring. He occasionally takes it off when he bathes, or if he's working on something where it could be dangerous, but it's on his hand 99% of the time.

I wear my ring when I'm out of the house, but as soon as I get home, it goes in my jewelry box. My ring is exactly the ring I wanted, but it's heavy. Plus, I've lost weight since DH and I got engaged, and I cannot have my ring sized. I have a ribbon on it so that it fits, but it's not as comfortable. And I really don't like having a lot on at home -

DH hasn't worn his in years. It's in my jewelry box right now. I always wear mine.

It is somewhat funny you posted this today RoseAnn. Yesterday DH was reminding me of the prank he pulled at Thanksgiving about his ring going down the sink in our half bath that doesn't have a round thing to stick in the hole- what's that called? I was mad, sad, you name it. He had me looking down the drain because he could see it, how come I couldn't see it. Yeah I was not pleased.

Today at lunch 2 of my rings did a twirl in the sink at work but thankfully they didn't go down the drain. I take my rings off whenever I wash my hands because once they touch water they do not want to stay on my finger. Man my heart stopped for a bit.

Back to your original question: my paternal grandfather never even bought a band and my dad has a band but I have only seen him wear it once and that was last year. I didn't even know he had a band. DH does wear his ring but we take it off during certain circumstances like when it involves handling meat where it could get up in our ring or washing dishes, bathing, swimming, those sorts of things. For the most part when we walk in the door the rings come off but when we are outside of the house they will be on. The only reason it would even be an issue of him not wearing his ring regularly is that it cost us a bit of money; I don't want to pay the amount we did for it to sit in a box but I think I would be okay because it is your WEDDING BAND, ya know?

DH and I both wear our rings when we go to work, or go out on a date, or are outside of the house.

My husband doesn't wear a ring, during his first marriage he did but he said it itched and gave him a rash, I don't know if it was just a cheap ring or if he's alergic to gold.
