I said we sure do try. I mean 9 times out of 10 everythings is fine. But sometimes life throws ya a curve ball and sometimes promises can't be kept for whatever reason but it better be a good reason LOL

Of course we do!

I simply see no point in being with someone who either fails to keep promises they make or makes promises they have no intention of keeping.

Not worth my time.

That is true Christine,
However once in a while things can come up ..
Which may prevent the promise to be fulfilled :)

Oh yes, thats very true. But IMHO there is a big difference between outside forces making it impossible to keep a promise (beleive me, no one knows this like Military wives LOL) and a person simply choosing not to keep a promise because they dont feel like it. KWIM?

I can accept outside forces making it impossible to keep a promise and often do as in my husbands life he often has no choice as the Navy "owns" him. But I couldnt accept him simply not caring enough to keep them.

You are right Christine,
Big difference in the two.
Sadly I bet you know that all too well.
Yes with love & caring promises were made to be fulfilled :)

We do keep our promises, and if someone cannot fulfill a promise, we acknowledge it, before there is a problem, or argument, we address it, and talk about it. Yes though, we always keep our promises, I also don't think either of us makes a promise that we know we may not be able to keep. Trust like that is so important in a marriage. You need to know that your partner is the most important thing to you, and keeps their word. I think it is an important part of a marriage, it's all about trust. You can't break that.
