Now when it comes to spending money I'm the safer person in the relationship.

It sounds like maybe just a poor choice of words on his part. Or he may have just felt so strongly about getting what he wanted that he was determined that you would understand that, too.

DH and I have always had good luck with each having a certain amount of discretionary money. We both work and our paychecks are both deposited in our joint account but it's understood that we each have hobbies/interests that we like to spend money on. As long as our other bills are getting paid and we are meeting our investment and savings goals, we are each able to indulge our own desires fairly often. So, I can buy counted cross-stitch or scrapbooking supplies or buy an item at an in-home party and he can go out for lunch or have beers with his brother or buy cards and books for his role-playing games.

If you think your DH was being serious, you might point out to him that it hurt your feelings, the way he phrased his decision. Hopefully he can find a more diplomatic way to present things in the future.

Hi Asha,
Sure can understand how you feel with the way he said it ..
Have you told him & if so what did he say ?
It's always nice to discuss purchases especially if they are big.
Hope he at least apologizes for the way .. let us know :)

Sort of what RoseAnn said he said he was so convinced it's a good deal he didn't want me finding any faults and get him to change his mind and didn't mean no harm in what he said.
