And yes a mystery as why they feel the need
Could be spent in so many better ways :)
Don't get me started on celebrity excess. Weddings are only one part of that; houses, cars, vacations; it all seems to be a means to flaunt what they have and show off how extravagant their lifestyle is.
This may sound like sour grapes but I'll take my modest home, used car, reasonable-sized ring any day. At least I don't have paparazzi hiding in my bushes or trying to catch me topless on vacation. LOL
The really sad thing is that the divorce rate for Hollywood couples is really terrible. It's notable when a couple makes it to 5 years of marriage, let alone 25 or 50!
