As a happily married woman, I was grossed out when I read this woman's blog:

Read the blog and comments that follow.

What comes around goes around.
Quite a few years ago the topic of submission came up on this board and my answer is the same now as it was then: Each couple has to do what is right for them.
DH and I do not follow these guidelines of the wife submitting and that works for us. However, I am not in support of trolling blogs just to tell the author that I disagree with their beliefs.

Interesting yes but not for me or dH.
Thanks for sharing & hope we'll see you here again :)
I don't think there is a right or wrong. Everyone must decide how their marriage is going to work for them. Others have rules that they follow as part of their religion that governs their marriage. Look at the Christians that embark on poly marriages - many would consider that "wrong" but it is about ultimate submission.
I am not Christian, I am pagan so of course I would not agree to follow this personally. I was reading the Quran in my 20s and I got to the part where the woman must obey her husband. I lost all interest in that bc I did not see that "resonating truth" for me. The gentleman who was pushing me to read it said, "but if there is a stalemate in the marriage, someone has to back down or the issue will never be resolved. The woman is stronger and therefore can do that for the good of the marriage." That may be so...but not for me.
Thanks for sharing this perspective though. I did not realize that was where the part in the marriage vows came from :) I personally had a hand fasting...so it wasn't an issue, LOL.

I think in todays world the rules really have changed..with women working and second marriages..and all the other changes to society. For some couples it is a great thing. I just got married for the second time and my new husband wants it to be equal. My first marriage was a very controlling one...so sometimes I struggle with the "equal partnership " that my new husband likes....but we are working through it .
Welcome to the board!
I can imagine that there are a lot of adjustments that have to be made when going into a second marriage, especially if your first marriage was not all you had hoped for.
Looking forward to getting to know you here! Feel free to join in!
