Rough Day!

Yesterday DH and I went to the bank to get a cashier's check for the amount that we are buying our mobile home from the owners. We went down to Goose Creek today to give them the check and to get the title transferred over in our names. After we got the title from them we went over to the mobile home park's manager's office to get directions to the DMV. When we went back to the car it would not start. Thank the Goddess for Triple A! We knew that it could be the battery or the starter, so we were hoping for the former.

The guy from Triple A got there and worked on the car and he replaced the battery. It wasn't holding the charge, and he saw that the reason for it was a faulty screw that wasn't properly holding in the battery. So we followed him to the car parts place, he bought the correct screw and he got the battery charged up for us. It was a hot day, in the 90s, so I didn't envy him a bit having to work in that heat. DH tipped him $20 for his time and trouble. Yes, it was his job, but it's not an easy one in the heat and humidity.

So then we go off to the DMV and the place is packed, almost like it is in the big city where we live. Then we find out that the we and the owners of the mobile home filled out the back of the title incorrectly, basically giving the home back to them. So we have to get special paperwork and go back to the owners for them and us to fill out. By that time it's 3:30pm and we still have a two hour drive back home. So we decided that it was too late and too many people to get through at the DMV (especially since they closed at 5pm). So we're going to go back tomorrow.

This move is stressing me out more and more. And it's only going to get worse. DH and I are going up to MI on July 5th so that he can visit his family. My MIL and BIL are coming back with us to help us move (my BIL is bringing his truck, so we'll have it as well as a moving van). We'll probably get moved in around July 15. I'm seriously thinking that once we do get moved in I'm not stepping out my front door for a week!

So sorry all this is causing so much stress ..
One would like to think a move wouldn't but atlas it usually does.
OK hoping the car needs a new baterry & nothing more.
It's never easy to work in the heat no matrer what.

Probably smart to stay close to the DMV ..
Hopefully all will go smoothe so you can leave at a decent time

Moving always has it glitches if you will,
Hoping you are not to stressed as time goes on
Nice you will have help with your move at least.
Just remember in a month or so it all will be over

Love the idea after the move you stay inside & relax ,
Or something like that :)

I'm sorry you are having to deal with this. DMV is just ugh. No real words for that place.

While this is hard now, it will be worth it in the end.

One of our professors recently moved and had the best idea: sale everything that he could, leave what he couldn't and buy new stuff when he got to the new place! I know it's not feasible for everyone but we can dream right!?!?

Sorry you had such a tough day but it sounds like things will work out. Just have patience!

So, is your mobile home a travel trailer? I'm just confused why DMV is involved at all. I was picturing a more permaent structure, I guess that would be treated more like a house than a vehicle for title transfer purposes.

I hope everything goes smoothly from here on out!

Sishon, I'm so sorry! I hate moving! When we remolded our home, well, my home, I was so happy, thinking, this is the last move for a VERY long time! Thank Goodness. Now after the wedding, we still haven't gotten all of our stuff put away. That feels like a move! I can't imagine how stressed you are. I just give you tons of HUGS, and any support you need. Good Luck Sweetie!!

Hugs!

Our mobile home is one that can be moved from lot to lot. Since it can be picked up and moved and since it has an axle, it is considered to be a vehicle. It's a home, like a house, but unlike a house, it is not permanently attached to the land.

Today has been a better day. DH looked on the SCDMV website last night and saw that the paperwork could be mailed in. Since we have 45 to acquire the title to the home, we can mail it in and still have plenty of time. Today we stopped off at a branch of the DMV here which is never busy. DH and the woman there went over the paperwork and it was filled out completely and correctly. So we're going to mail that out.

One thing has changed, though. We were originally planning on going up to MI on July 5th. But DH had to sign up for orientation/registration at the college and the college picked out the 12th and 13th for him to do that. So now we're going up to MI on July 2nd. At least we can stay in our new home while he goes to his events at the college.

We went to Lowe's today, just to look. I want to wallpaper the bathroom (it's going to be an African savanna/safari theme). DH saw some wallpaper for the bedroom with wolves and dreamcatchers that he really liked. I still haven't found what I want for the kitchen. Right now we're at the dreaming stage, if you KWIM. The one room I know that's going to get a change is the bathroom.

Mailing it in sounds nice.

How fun that you get to redo those rooms!
