Thanksgiving Apart?

I was wondering what people's thoughts were about spending Thanksgiving from your spouse.... My husband's family lives about 2 1/2 hours away by plane and his mom has asked us to come visit for the Thanksgiving holiday.

I don't think it's weird at all but I know I don't think I would like spending my holidays away from my husband.

My opinion is that there are no hard and fast rules regarding holidays and how you choose to celebrate them. I think it is very generous of you to offer to have your DH fly to see his family, especially given the circumstances surrounding this visit.

Maybe you can plan a trip later that would include both of you.

For this holiday, you could celebrate early together or have a special dinner together when he returns.

Hi & welcome to the board girliedrummer,
I think that was lovely you made the suggestion you did.
Hopefully you can get the time off & join them too.
However if not .. like the op has said ..
You & your DH can have a special night/evening where you to share the meal like Thanksgiving.
You've given a gift from the heart :)

Hi Maggie,
Welcome to the board :)

How long have you & DH been married?
Hope we'll see you here again :)

I don't think your suggestion was bad at all.
