Your Engagement Ring

I was listening to a morning radio show a couple of days ago, and they were talking about engagement ring trends for 2013.  Apparently, emeralds are the big thing when it comes to engagement rings this year.  I love emeralds and colored stones, but I don't know that I'd want a "trendy" engagement ring.  I'm more of a traditional kind of girl.  My ring is just an oval cut diamond on a plain platinum band, which is what I wanted.  I do have a friend whose ring is an amethyst, and it's very pretty.  -But when I look at it, it just doesn't say "engagement ring."  What does your ring look like?

Tradtional gold band, no stone or any frills,  used to be my grandmothers. I have her  wedding ring too and my husband has  my grandfathers golden wedding/ engagment ring.

Stones are for the mother ring, but I cant afford one of those, it all due to my rings being of such  good quality ( read expensive in todays market)  that is  i buy a gold ring of today, it will destroy the old rings.

It's funny...I have an emerald in my wedding set but I hadn't heard that about it being trendy this year (and mine's 16 years old!). I guess I was trendy before I even knew it. LOL

When DH and I were discussing marriage, etc. the one stipulation I made is that I didn't want a solitaire engagement ring. Turns out, he got me a solitaire but picked out a very nice wrap that incorporated an emerald, which is my birthstone. Since I only wore the solitaire for the year we were engaged and then had it soldered to my wedding ring, it has never looked like a solitaire and I get lots of compliments on how unique it is.

I don't wear much jewelry so having a ring that suits me is important.

My engagement ring was/is a solitaire stone that belonged to my Mom,
I wore it made to go with my wedding band which we had made to fit.
However a few years ago I just had a wedding band made & don't wear the engagement ring with it anymore ;)
