Alimony and Child Support

When my husband got divorced he was ordered to pay $492 in child support and $400 in Alimony. But he is now making half of what he made then. So here is my worry if we go in and have all of this lowered to what it should be, will that make his relationship with his only biological daughter that much longer to to rebuild. They have no relationship now, we support her sport events but she doesnt acknowledge us. I keep hoping that it will change but will changing the support make it that much longer to repair?

As far as I'm concerned, children should not be involved in any discussions regarding child support, and the relationship between parent and child certainly should not hinge upon the amount of support being paid.

Thank you two for your responses. I really feel that his ex has ran this train. So now the question is how does he start a relationship again? He start by sending her a note to asking her to dinner and she never showed up or never called.

Why did he feel the need to make a dinner date?

He made a dinner date hoping that it would break the ice between them and be a start for her to start talking to him again. I am not opposed to child support, it is his daughter and we should help support her. We paid for her school trip to DC and gave her money for school clothes last year. My point is the amount he is required to pay is based on double what his income is now. Thanks, Marie

I would take it back to the lawyers.
