Wow, its been a crazy 4 years for me. In 2008, I found out I was pregnant with my first baby with my husband who I had been with for 14 years and married to for 8 years.

I think your story is very tragic...it also seems to me that grief does different things to different people and sadly it probably accelerated your relationship with your DH...it seems you really hadn't fully grieved the loss of your first husband and maybe you would've done things differently if you had...with all that being said it does seem like you have made a pretty good decision in what you have done recently...I think this will give you the opportunity to see your current husband for who he is w/o the legal/financial issues of marriage (since you are now divorced)...maybe that can give you a truly clear head when it comes to really deciding whether you want to stay in this relationship or not...you yourself pointed out all of your positive attributes so that is a step in the right direction...you almost put it out there as "proof" of why remaining in this situation may not be what you really want...does that make sense?

Obvously my daughter is number one in my life so I carefully gauge her emotions.

The part that scares me most in this story isn't about you, actually, it's about your daughter.

You are so right Marina - and she is my number one concern.

In all fairness to him, I should also say that when he is sober (which is most of the time) he is like a dream come true.

The "except for the drinking" is the huge issue.
