Pam, I'm more spiritual than religious but I know what you mean. I think these women have a slightly skewed view of what God would want for them and their children. I know I wanted what was good for my son and that included having a mother who was happy with her life.

Tyler (dh #3) was really good with Carl until the adolescent years and we had moved out by then. LOL

Personally, I would bow out.

As a twice divorced Christian, I can only say that "for me" prayer really did help. Prayer helped me realize that I would be okay when my first husband left, and that I was strong enough to leave my second husband when I saw the effect the abuse was having on my kids.

Do I still think it's "best" to work things out, go to counseling, and do what you can to save the marriage...of course...I do believe that God hates divorce. But I also believe that sometimes the "mistake" per se, is not the divorce...it was not paying more attention to the person you were taking those vows with...and that sometimes the "mistakes" made in the marriage hurt those involved in the marriage (and sadden God's heart) more than the divorce will.

I don't know it that helps at all in the situation you are describing...but I know it helped me.
