My SO writes me a check every month to put towards household bills and expenses, and he told me "I am just going to have to marry you so I don't have to write checks to 'Serenity xH last name' any longer.

I told SO about it and it reminded him of when we were away this summer and checking into hotel and they called us mr and mrs bella's ex husband name...I wanted to throw up on the spot...that was SO's added incentive to say hey if that's not a good reason he doesn't know what is...lol

Similar,but different story:

When I got married (first time)---we had a small wedding and reception at restaurant.....

When we arrived at restaurant, their sign out front said:

Congratulations Mr and Mrs. (MY maiden name)----

hah!

Instead of *congratulating" the newly weds---LOL....it looked like they were "congratulating" the bride's parents at ***finally*** marrying off their daughter !

LOL.... ;-) !!

OK, I have another funny for you.

I have been working on cutting back spending and have a large auto repair loan, medical bills and a CC with a balance I am too embarased to admit here what the balance here. So....I was able to get the interest lowered on my CC for the next months and was so excited I had to tell SO about it last night.

This is what came out of my mouth after I told him. "You may not ever marry me if I am in debt" I could feel it coming, tried to stop it, but it just ran out like water.

He sort of paused, and I said "there is some truth to that statement, huh?"

Luckily, I was on the way out the bedroom door and all he said when I came back in was "you really are afraid of getting back into debt again, aren't you?" (I used to have a serious, serious mess. My CC balance is nothing compared to what my life used to be like)

I said "yea, I really don't want to screw things up again."

And, that was that. I felt like I was watching myself in slow motion and going "noooo......Ssseeerrreeennnitttyyy, don't sssaaayyy ttthaattt...."

(Trying to be visual, here. I hope it is working)

So, there is my funny for the day.

LOL, Serenity, I could picture the whole thing (and I don't even know you)

I had my SO completely confused when we first met, I had my married name in some place and maiden in others, he wasn't shure who I was :P

I LOVE my new last name. I stupidly did not take my maiden name back 4 years ago and regretted it almost immediately! Whenever my new dh and I would jokingly talk about marriage (because I said I'd NEVER get married again), I would add, "Well, I DO like your last name." At our age, buying a condo together and me not having good health insurance prompted us to make it legal. Maybe not the greatest of reasons, but as older adults, we felt it the right thing to do and are glad we did! We've been together 3 years and still feel like newlyweds! Oh, yea...we ARE...and leave on our honeymoon this Saturday!

Smart move! Getting rid of the ex's last name was SO liberating!
