I know a lot of you are already married, but several of us are not, so wanted to throw this out for some food for thought.

Some days I think "yea, I could marry SO" and get a sort of warm and fuzzy feeling.

After a 24 year marriage and a horrible divorce, I had absolutely NO intentions of EVER marrying again...yet here I am, a newlywed.

I would marry SO in a minute, if we could, but we live 5 hours apart and neither of us are in a position to move, his business is there, and I won;t

I think, because I spent 7 years alone, just raising my dd......I am now, soooo happy to be living with and getting married again!! No, my DF isn't always the easiest person to deal/get along with.....there was alot to work out our 1st year living together.

Hi mom, so glad my post brought you out of lurkdom, haven't seen you in a while!

When you said "EIC" holy cow, yes! We can't forget the tax credits for being head of household. Although I agree a tax refund should not be a reason NOT to get M, but a practiality never-the-less.

Honestly, I have no idea what a M return would look like, as SO is self employed, but I have thought about running the numbers, just out of curiosity. Kind of how my brain works.

But...we did NOT get M so SO could have health insurance, and it has worked out just fine. He qualifies for assistance to pay his premiums.

Point being, I think it needs to be an independent decision. We can shoot ourself in the foot trying to over manage things. My experience, anyways.

i.e. Don't marry to keep spousal support, but then SO gets sick and you are just "the girlfriend." Stuff like that.

Anyways, I gotta' run. Good to see you Mom.

I know, I don;t like to wish time away, but I can;t wait for Saturday, and now we have decided to get together enxt weekend too, since Thanksgiving is not working out at all.

I couldn;t have been a military wife either!

Hoping your DH gets home quickly, I know you will be waiting!
