As you may or may not know, one of DH and my passsions is volunteering at our local sheler and fostering senior dogs that show up there.

The choices we make in thought, word and deed inevitably return to us in kind.

You have done a wonderful thing by adopting - and a senior no less!

I wish more people would realize the abundance of adoptable pets waiting for homes at shelters and rescues around the country so we can end the wasteful euthanization of companion animals. I'm also a rescue volunteer.

Oh, we are not adopting him, we are fostering him.

Fostering is just as wonderful - we always need foster parents! The more you know about a dog the better you can place it in a permanent home.

I know I hadn't responded, but since I knew this was about Simba, I didn't look. :) I'm glad he responded so well to being in a home again. Honestly, I equate kennels to the likes of being in jail. It's noisy, it's cold, it's scary. As always, I'm so glad you're one of the people who help dogs in need. I want to be one later when I'm more settled in life and have a home.

Awe...

You know I am not an "animal lover," but I have to admit, seeing abused animals really hits a nerve with me.

The staff vet at the shelter cleared him, so we got his shots, micro chip and heartworm test done (negative).
