I don't think you are being over sensitve, but I can see his side, also.

You are right about this. It is more difficult for him to handle the fact that I was a widow.

I thought about having an estate sale to compromise. I understand how he feels it's just it doesn't make sense to me financially especially

Yes absolutely I agree with you. We are in the process of buying this mortgage - got it under my name and 2 months ago I bought a Cadillac Escalade.

"Am I being too sensitive?"

Short answer:
No.
He is being "too sensitive"-------
---------but that is who he is.

AGREED: Work on underlying issue of his insecurity, i.e.:
"If I were you, I would first reassure your current husband that he is the ultimate love of your life."

That (IMO) is the underlying issue---unless dealt with, it will show up in other areas beyond this--so deal with underlying issue as much as you can.

Personally, I can understand his wanting different pictures/knick knacks---but for table/chairs/sofa----unless you keep your finances separate from him, and he offers to personally take on the debt to finance new replacement pieces..........I'd have trouble with this as well.

How about recovering furniture for new decor? Is that an option?

So are you supposed to have an empty house w/ no furniture in it?
