update on planning my trip

ok... looks like elopement plans are off the table. which is cool. Now, i can concentrate on reunion stuff and a great vacation.

i think snorkeling is off the table as well.. We decided to do the Sub Tour / Dinner Cruise Combo instead. I told BF that we may not see any fish, ya just never know, and he said just going under 100 feet of water will be worth it. After the submarine tour, is a the dinner cruise around part of the island at sunset. Sounds romantic and fun. Aside from my reunion, this will likely be the highlight of the vacation.

i have started a notebook on the trip. with addresses of places. admission prices. hours of operations. where to shop for the best sourvenirs, etc. I'm trying not to nail down too many details but i still want to get a round about idea of what there is to choose from... BF is so easy going. He said, anything i want to do he will be right there with me. But he wants to decide once we are there... and I think my notebook is a good compromise. Nothing is written in stone but i will feel prepared.

We will be in Hawaii for 6 days. Three of those days will be reunion activities. one will be the sub tour. and then the other two, we will decide while we are there...

I'm so excited.

I think you are like me when planning a vacation (or I am like you)--I think part of the fun is reading about places to go and getting an idea of what I want to do. Not to plan every minute but just so you don't go home later & find out "I should have done that." I took a dinner cruise in Honolulu--they arrange it so they stop the boat so that you can see the sun set over Diamond Head. You really have a big reunion event for 3 days. We only had the actual reunion on a Sat. night and then several people who stayed over in the same hotel met for breakfast w/ a few other people who couldn't come at night. But then again, RI isn't as much of a vacation destination as Hawaii (except for the beach in the summer).

yep, exactly. i'm researching every possible thing.. then checking out the hours and cost. then looking up reviews. I've been changing my mind daily on what i "think" i'll want to do.. but yes, i don't want to leave and then find about something that was a must-do.

I do have fun planning events. Which is also why i joined the reunion planning committe... half the fun is the planning. :)

The main event for the reunion will have a program and slideshow and awards, 80's music. Then some folks decided to meet up for a "party before the party" at a chic nightclub. Someone has VIP priviledges so we can all get in and eat for only $5/each. No formal program but rather a time to catch up. then on Sunday (the day after the formal event), there is an event for families at a beach park. potluck. maybe family games.

there will be lots to do. I told EC that this is not one of those vacations where you lay around all day in your hotel. those are great, too, and we probably will spend a lot of time in the hotel (wink wink) but i want to get out a see the island too.

oh, and you've heard of the "mile high club" ... well, we might try for the "100 feet below the ocean club" too. ;)

Ha, ha, that submarine better not be too crowded.
