Do your friends and family approve?

Do your friends and family approve of your M/D relationship?  If not, how do you get past their comments and opinions?  I would love for my friends to accept that I'm happy regardless of how much older he is.  It's not like I'm a child, and he's not moving into the retirement home anytime soon.  Ugh, it's just frustrating.  I know my friends and family mean well, but the comments and subtleties are getting to be too much.

Hi Rattla, welcome!

My family and friends accepted my MDR quicker than I thought they would.  Maybe you and your SO can turn it into a game.  Maybe guess what one person will say before you see them again.

As long as the two of you are happy together - that is what matters the most.

Hello, my wife is just 3 years older than my daughter and 5 years older than my son. Before we were married I thought the biggest battle would be my kids, but they have never been an issue, although my wife in no way tries to be a mother figure to them. My male friends of course marvel that I have such a young and attractive wife, however their wives were a little slow to warm up. I would say after the first year of our marriages most of my friends wives came around. My wife doesn't spend a lot of time around my friends wives mostly because she has little in common with them, once in a while a sewing project comes up though and things are fine. I think people are pretty accepting once they see you are happy..

I was lucky I think. I come from a large family and thankfully they fell in love with my husband when they met him. Well, one of my sisters thought it was kind of weird that I was marrying someone 20 years older than me, but she has accepted it. His family seemed perfectly fine with the age difference. I think they were a little nervous about him marrying a Mexican-American girl but it's all worked out!
