Home schooling sucks, she lies, she cheats, I am not doing well at this at all

I know it's only our 2nd week because of our educational trip but man this is HARD and her and I are bashing heads at every chance.

Mic, refresh my memory of why you are homeschooling her or was it just what you decided to do? Can't remember if she was having issues at school or something.

I'm probably not the best person to give any advice on this because I know I could never do it. Are you able to "exchange teach" with any other families so that some of her instruction is coming from someone else. Is there specific subjects that are an issue or just everything? I'm sure coming back from an educational trip and trying to buckle down to a routine is a big adjustment too.

All I can say is GOOD LUCK! And you have my ear anytime!

A few reasons, she was not happy last year but that went back and forth. Then when I knew she would miss 3 weeks cuz of our trip, and the middle school would have a fit, I figured it was for the best. So started looking at curriculums and doing some testing to see where she was at. In Spelling and Grammar she is at about a 4th grade level, (She is in 8th grade) so after that I made up my mind to keep her home and make sure those gaps get filled in. This week IS going much better, she is learning she can't con me and it's easier to just do the work. Duh!

I'm glad to hear that she is doing better this week. Maybe she was just testing the boundries. I know that is what I would have done as a kid.

I totally think that is what she was up too. But things are much better this week, todays she was giddy and wanted extra lessons when she was doing well. Go figure that one out!
