Egg Rolling at the White House

My dh sent me an email about whether or not I'd like to go to the White House for the annual Easter Egg roll the day after Easter. I found this article about it cause I wanted to make totally sure it was legit.

The letter he sent me said they weren't sure about it believe there were going to be about 1000 tickets available for Coast Guard families. But it's for everyone in the military. If you guys have gotten this information or if you'd be interested in it perhaps you could talk to the command or something. I told my husband to go ahead and put our names in to see if we could go. I don't know about other branches but the email I read said they were going to pay for transportation and a hotel room for the night. They would fly us over there on the 20th and we'd leave on the 21st after the egg roll. Just thought I'd put this out there in case anyone wants to try and ask about going or to find out if anyone else was going.

Hugs to you all,

Kaleolani, Coast Guard wife and mom

I thought about it over and over again and I came to a decision. I felt way to guilty going with my husband state side. Although he's not at home with me and he's serving his country with Homeland Security I felt I would be out of place there with women who's husbands are there in the gulf itself. :) And being my husband is nothing but predictable I figured he hadn't gotten around to putting our names in anyways. So I told him to never mind and not put them in. Hopefully the open tickets will go to others. Plus I thought about it and decided if I'm going to Washington I'd rather do it with my husband. :-) I'm horrible with doing things alone. I've never even been to a movie by myself. I do wish all those that go to the Egg Roll tons of fun though. And thank you for asking about me. :-)

I heard about this too, but couldn't find any info on it.

I think it's wise for the Bush Family to do this for the military families, it's a small way to say 'thanks' but it's such a big gesture.

Wish we could go!

Stacey,

Perhaps you could ask your command about tickets. They are distributing the tickets through the DOD.

Not sure about other branches but we had to sign a list through our ITT office and today is the last day to sign up. Families of deployed military get priority and then whatever tickets are left go into the pot and they pick off the list first come first serve here. I am now 273 on the list....doubt we will get chosen, but figured I had to try. I had looked into the egg roll back in January and was willing to go stand in line at the white house to get tickets...but then they cancelled general public tickets....can't blame em. So I figure just maybe we will be lucky enough to go. My kids would love it!!!
