Getting Hired After the Military

My brother has been out since the spring, and he has yet to find a job. I always thought that there was job placement assistance, but I guess it hasn't quite worked out for him.
Apparently, this is faily common now. I found this article on CNN about how hard it is for veterans to find a job today: http://www.cnn.com/2011/11/21/living/hired-after-military-cb/index.html
Have you thought about life after the military as far as jobs go?

When my DH retired, he sent over 1000 resumes before he found a job.

As a retired military person (24 years USAF) I would highly recommend anyone staying in if possible since it is tough these days to get a civilian job. Certain military jobs are much more adoptable than others to the civilian market. One thing that is of interest for this year is a new ruling that gives employers special tax breaks if they hire military veterans. Check into military.com for additional information.
