What bases/posts have you spent time at (you lived there, were there TDY, visited often, etc)? Fort Jackson, Fort Lewis, Fort Lee, Fort Huachuca, Fort Hood

What type of information is helpful for you when you move to or visit a new duty station?

I always like to know how the hotels are on post for when I first get there. I've had a couple of bad experiences with getting crappy temp lodging and it always is so depressing to get somewhere and have to stay in a crappy room. Knowing what I'm in for helps me mentally prepare!

I like to know what areas in the town to avoid. It's really hard to tell online or even to really tell when you first get to a place. Getting that advice from someone who has lived there a while really, really helps.

Fort Huachuca, Fort Belvoir (TDY) and Fort Lewis

Good and bad parts of town; good places to go sightseeing (vs. what's overrated); Army resources

Which of these topics are most important to you: housing, medical facilities, local restaurants/stores/salons/etc, activities for children, activities for adults, food prices in the area? Feel free to add any others.

Restaurants and activities for me and my son
