O.K., ladies, ignoring the new boards would be like ignoring an elephant in the room, so let's hash it all out in a Friday Five.

1. Name one thing you really like about the new boards.

2. Name one (ONE!! LOL) thing you really dislike about the new boards.

3. Do you feel that these boards never archiving is a positive or a negative thing?

4. Now that you've used the new boards for a couple of days, is it getting any easier? (Even baby steps count.)

5. Is a drastic change like this a good or bad marketing idea for iVillage, in your opinion?

1. Name one thing you really like about the new boards.

The profiles

2. Name one (ONE!! LOL) thing you really dislike about the new boards.

I don't like how people are bumped around according to recent posts. I'm finding many posts that I didnt' even know existed! The old format of leaving posts where they were in the chronology of the board made it easy to make sure you didn't miss anyone. More importantly you could find your own post again!

3. Do you feel that these boards never archiving is a positive or a negative thing?

I think it is a negative thing. It will be confusing when an old topic never dies. lol Also, how do we personalize the roll calls each week?

4. Now that you've used the new boards for a couple of days, is it getting any easier? (Even baby steps count.)

I'm finding it a bit easier but it is much more difficult to use than the old board. I'm annoyed that I can't see whole streams of conversation at once. Clicking through all of them is very time consuming.

5. Is a drastic change like this a good or bad marketing idea for iVillage, in your opinion?

I don't think it was a great idea. It would have been better to upgrade little things (ie. profiles, alphabetical emoticons) and add the advertising to the bottom of the old board versus doing the drastic changes they did.

1. Name one thing you really like about the new boards.

All my friends are still here! LOL

2. Name one (ONE!! LOL) thing you really dislike about the new boards.

I can't pop in and out quickly anymore, it will take more reading now. Also, I can't make my own title to my post, when I post under someone else's msg.

3. Do you feel that these boards never archiving is a positive or a negative thing?

I kind of think it's a negative thing, cuz whether we like it or not the "negative" posts will still always be there. One thing I did like about the old boards is when it did archive it was like starting fresh every day (since the board moved so fast).

4. Now that you've used the new boards for a couple of days, is it getting any easier? (Even baby steps count.)

Yes, actually it is getting easier.

5. Is a drastic change like this a good or bad marketing idea for iVillage, in your opinion?

IMO, I'm not sure it's good or bad, I'll just say different!

1. Name one thing you really like about the new boards.

Flexibility with profiles

2. Name one (ONE!! LOL) thing you really dislike about the new boards.

No archiving, I enjoyed starting with a fresh new board every once and a while, it made it possible to let problem issues drop quietly.

3. Do you feel that these boards never archiving is a positive or a negative thing?

Well, I think I answered this in #2. :)

4. Now that you've used the new boards for a couple of days, is it getting any easier? (Even baby steps count.)

Yes, it's getting easier, I still hate that I have to log in EVERY time! That's annoying, but I'll get used to it.

5. Is a drastic change like this a good or bad marketing idea for iVillage, in your opinion?

I'm sitting on the fence on this one, on one hand it's better to make alot of changes at once so that it's NEW, but on the other hand if they had made small changes at atime it would have been easier to gradually get everyone accustom to the new boards.

1. Name one thing you really like about the new boards.

I love that active posts stay on top. I scroll through them until I get to a post with no new posts and then I know that I don't have to scroll anymore "just in case" someone posted. That used to get annoying scrolling the whole board just to look for a new message here or there.

2. Name one (ONE!! LOL) thing you really dislike about the new boards.

It's just different, that's all.

3. Do you feel that these boards never archiving is a positive or a negative thing?

Good and bad. I'd like to know how to get fewer posts on the outline view.

4. Now that you've used the new boards for a couple of days, is it getting any easier? (Even baby steps count.)

YES

5. Is a drastic change like this a good or bad marketing idea for iVillage, in your opinion?

Actually, it's a good thing. Since this is the format of all the other forums and message boards that I've ever seen online, I think new people will be more familiar with it.

1. Name one thing you really like about the new boards.

I like the new profiles.

2. Name one (ONE!! LOL) thing you really dislike about the new boards.

The format. I am having a very hard time finding the new posts.

3. Do you feel that these boards never archiving is a positive or a negative thing?

Honestly a negative thing. With archives you could easily go back and look for something specific. With the new board, you are literally going to have to search through all of the posts. And since they are not in chronological order its not like you can go by date. It was also nice to start a fresh board. With out it archiving I dont see the freshness many of us looked forward to.

4. Now that you've used the new boards for a couple of days, is it getting any easier? (Even baby steps count.)

Yes, I am starting to adjust to the boards. Still not happily. I know I am a military wife and I should be fine with change. But the one thing I loved about the board, is I always could come here and know it would be the same. While the people here are still the same people, having to adjust to a new format makes it hard to enjoy and a bit frustrating.

5. Is a drastic change like this a good or bad marketing idea for iVillage, in your opinion?

To be honest. I think it may have been a bad idea. I am always up for improvement, but not so drastically. I think they could have found a different way to introduce all the new changes, like in phases. Start of with new profiles, then maybe move onto, not changing the format, but adjusting what the board looks like. Give it a new look, then maybe slowly introduce a new format. It may have prolonged their ultimate goal, but I think the Ivillage community would have welcomed it more happily. I know the other boards I visit, a large portion of the members arent happy either.

1. What is one thing you like about the new board?

Well since I am fairly new to the whole messege board thing I can't give a good opinion but I do like the profiles.

2. What is one thing I dislike about the board?

Hmmm...How long it takes to go through the whole board. I can't skip around and know if I am in order or if I had posted there a day before or not. I can go bakc in look but when you have a little one to chase it's just to time consuming.

3. Is not archiving good or bad?

Bad I like to see bad issues find a place in the archives so I don't have to see them again.

4. Is it any easier after a few days?

Yes, but like I said I am still new and so I can't say that I would have much of any opinion here.

5. Is this a positive change for ivillage?

I'm still not sure of yes or no. Give me a week or so and I will be able to understand this alot better.

1. Name one thing you really like about the new boards.

I like the new profile options.

2. Name one (ONE!! LOL) thing you really dislike about the new boards.

I don't like that I can't tell when something's been posted. I also miss seeing the subject lines for the reponses.

3. Do you feel that these boards never archiving is a positive or a negative thing?

I don't see it as being either, but I do like the new search mechanism.

4. Now that you've used the new boards for a couple of days, is it getting any easier? (Even baby steps count.)

It's easier to use, but not to read, takes longer to go through everyone's posts, some will get lost.

5. Is a drastic change like this a good or bad marketing idea for iVillage, in your opinion?

I think it was a bad idea. Many people who use ivillage don't have sophisticated computer skills, so any change is bad in their eyes.

1. Name one thing you really like about the new boards.

I like that newly replied to post go to the top. This allows me to see current topics here

2. Name one (ONE!! LOL) thing you really dislike about the new boards.

That I can't see everything that is going on with the board all at once.

3. Do you feel that these boards never archiving is a positive or a negative thing?

Never archiving allows popular topics to be discussed always. If a post is a flamer then we can click ignore and then it won't be an issue for us personally. Eventually it will be a positive.

4. Now that you've used the new boards for a couple of days, is it getting any easier? (Even baby steps count.)

I am getting more used to it. I am learning how to manipulate my way around it and to get to most post. Because it takes longer to load on dial up I am not able to respond as often or as much as I would like. All the clicking eats up a lot of my time.

5. Is a drastic change like this a good or bad marketing idea for iVillage, in your opinion?

I don't view it as negative but I think they really should have polled the people who utilize these boards to inquire what style they would prefer.

1. Name one thing you really like about the new boards.

I like the outline view

2. Name one (ONE!! LOL) thing you really dislike about the new boards.

I dislike everything else about them!!LOL!! I dont like how I cannot scan through like I used to be able too

3. Do you feel that these boards never archiving is a positive or a negative thing?

Negative because it is harder to look back on a day when you don't archive. I know I look back on my Sept board we would post what we did a year ago that day.

4. Now that you've used the new boards for a couple of days, is it getting any easier? (Even baby steps count.)

A little

5. Is a drastic change like this a good or bad marketing idea for iVillage, in your opinion?

Bad because why fix something that isn't broken??
