Hi, my name is Desiree an I am fairly new to military life. IM 20 years old and my husband and I have dated since I was 14. When he decided to go into the military last year he asked me to be his wife and come along...we had been planning on getting married anyway but didnt know when. Anyway, we got engaged but there wasnt enough time to get married before basic training so he went off last june to basic and we were married this past oct. Right now we are in Eglin AFB Fl while he trains for EOD, THE BOMB SQUAD!!!!. He should be done his training here in may and then off we go to our unknown duty station.. I am so scared!!! Im not so much afraid of the job he has but just the fact that I know that the men and women in this job are tdy ALL THE TIME ..there are only 1000 people in eod in the entire army so the few that they have they send all over the world! I just need some support and advise about how to deal with being left behind all the time. I mean..i did it while he was at basic but now he will be all over the world..Im just really scared and dont know how im going to deal with it. Please offer any advise you have on being a military wife..

awww, sweetie! You've come to the right place! Guess I should start by welcoming you, eh? so...welcome!

As for your situation, just remember why you married your man in the first place, you love him and support him, and you are probably proud of what he does. I'm sure he takes pride in it, as well

Find a support bast, be it your friends and/or family, this board, or the FSG group, or what have you. I know that a lot of MOSs with *elite* or small numbers normally have a really good tight FSG, as their husbands are away a lot.

Also, go to school, or get a job, start a schedule for yourself, so that you are always improving yourself, as he is, (or will be) in his job.

You can do this, you got through basic, you can get through his multiple TDYs. And, if you let us, we can be here for you as well!

You will be o.k and do just fine.Just use all your resources and especially FSG!Just keep reminding yourself how much you love him and support him and you will make it!

I too am new to the life of being a wife as well as a military wife. I am 21 years old so I can relate to you in the age sense also. I dated my husband off and on since I was 15. We made it offical when I was 18. Married at 20. He is in the 3rd Infantry Divison which is a rapid deployment unit. We were only married for a week and a half when he got sent to his duty station. I was on my way down there until he got his orders to be deployed to Kuwait. So I just stayed in our hometown. At that time I was 6 1/2 months pregnant. Luckily he got to come home in January when Ethan was born. But that was the last time I got to see him. It is hard to adjust to but I am trying. I will help you through it as best as possible. Even if you just need someone to talk to about anything I will listen. I am on the computer usually when the baby is sleeping. Mid morning and at night. I hope we can get to know one another better. Oh my gosh, Blair! My son, Ethan, was born in January as well, in the year 2002! too funny, eh? LOL! I call mine E-man! There's another lady on this board that posts from time to time, her son is named Ethan as well, and he's a few months younger than mine! LOL!

Wow blair!!! It sounds like we have a lot in common...my husbands name is mike too :) i call him mikey lol Im sure we could really help eachother out. Its nice to know that they're are women out there who are going through the same thing as me...its very comforting. Congrats on the baby!! I dont have any kids..im waiting a loooong time. I hope your husband comes home soon! good luck sweetie. hope to hear from you soon

We were just stationed in that area, but we were across town at Hurlburt Field. I really liked it there and knew some people who were doing the EOD thing too. Of course their DH's are done with training by now and off to a new place. As for the TDY's well my Dh's career field is one where he is gone a lot too and although it is rough I have gotten use to it. Since we've moved he's been home and it's almost weird to have him around, but he'll be leaving this summer again so I am enjoying the time I have now. I have kids so that keeps me plenty busy. The family support centers are good too. I am pretty sure all my friends in EOD had pretty close ties with other spouses and that really helps. This board is a good support group too. Welcome aboard and enjoy the beaches and stuff while you can!

Hi Desiree, you have definitely come to the right place! My name is Stacey and I am married to a navy man.. =) We are stationed in Florida too. I know how you feel. I am only 19 and we were married in October of 2002, then he was deployed in February.
