Military families receiving crank calls

Has anyone else seen this? Military families are getting crank calls telling them that their soldier is captured/dead. How screwed up must a person be to find this amusing. I just feel sick for the poor families that had to deal with that.

This brings up a good point. I hope that all of our wives here know that if anything bad were to happen, you would be notified IN PERSON by a representative from your DH's branch of service. The Red Cross would not contact you, nor would anyone else phone you... that's not how the military does things.

Thank you for posting this. It's disgusting, but maybe it'll educate a few people here on the board so none of us will be victims of this kind of prank.

Thanks, Janelle.

Another reason why we need to be discreet on the board...

I was just thinking the same thing. They do it in person.
