New Law to Counter Westboro Protests

Last week, President Obama signed a law that includes language to protect our soldiers' funerals.  

I'm not sure how I feel about this.  On one hand, I'm glad that the Westboro "church" won't be able to be as disrespectful, obnoxious, and hateful as they have been, but I still think that this is a violation of the First Amendment.  

I wonder if the church will try to get this law overturned in the Supreme Court.

I think funerals are a private matter and protesting them is just wrong.  It will be interesting to see what happens with this law.

I'm glad something is being done about it too. It just makes me sick every time I hear about this church. They are just so hateful. :smileysad: I do agree that it does seem to be a violation of First Amendment rights, though, and passing a law like this could be a slippery slope.

I'd love to see the high powered water hoses too. Wouldn't that make for a few good headlines? :smileywink:
