Hi girls,

Just dropping by to ask a question from the experts. Is it possible that a guy would be sent on a mission for over a year without being able to have some form of communication??

I keep hearing this occassionally and it just doesn't make sense. He can get mail every so many months but would never be able to send any type of communciation back???

I have had friends in the regular services, SF's and others and this has never come up. I mean yes, occassionally communication lines are down for a while but they always are cleared again after a certain period.

Just curious??

I'm with you. I've never heard of that either. I haven't known a million people in SF and Delta Force, but I know several, and never have any of them gone a year with no communication.... including Delta Force, and they're the ones who go on the most secret missions.

Doesn't mean I'm right, but it just sounds fishy.

What is his MOS if you dont' mind me asking? We have had friends who were in what we jokingly call Wally World (Delta) and never did they go for a year. And mind you they do the jobs know one knows about so unless he is Delta and one of the elite then I'd have to say I have NEVER heard of going without communication for a year. Even the troops over in Iraq get to call and send letters home.

Sorry Tricia but it really doesn't make any sense to me. My dh is former SF and we never went more than about 2 weeks between communication and this was pre-internet.

Hope that helps

I agree girls. This kid is just coming out of AIT and is an MP. I hate to tell this girl but fishy is the least of what it sounds like. Within the last year of being on DMM, I have run across a couple of women/girls that fall for this line. It breaks my heart to see them sit for months on end and suffer.

The last one finally gave up after 9 months and decided to move on with her life. This is just one of those things that I hate NOT to speak up and say something.

Thanks girls!!

I can tell you that there is absolutely no way they would be out of communication for that amount of time, when my husband is out on missions he has communication with me, though at times he can't call but never for more than a short amount of time.

Hope that helps.
