apparently he got fired from NBC,MSNBC and National Geographic for whom he was reporting over in Iraq, he gave an interview to Iraq, and made some really dumb comments about how we had changed our strategy when we discovered more resistance in Iraq and were forming a new war plan AND he told them about all the protesters here in the states. It was then broadcast on Iraqi tv. Here's the link for the complete story.

I saw that today. I have to wonder if there wasn't more to why he made those comments. He is also 80 years old. I am not defending him or his statements. But I just have to wonder what more was going on there. It all seemed so odd to me.

He did try to apologize for his comments today on the Today show. I missed the clip so I don't know what it sounded like.

I have two things to say...

#1 - Arnett IS a French name...Nes pa?

#2 - Let him AND his comb-over be a human shield!

I have to agree with Rose. I wonder what else was going on there. I wonder if there was some coercion there. When he was reporting from Iraq during the first night of the war (he was the only reporter from American t.v.), he was being monitored by Iraqi authorities. They sat in the room with him while he was reporting and was limiting what he was allowed to say. I noticed that whenever he mention Saddam Hussein, he called him "President Saddam Hussein". Come on, what western reporter refers to Saddam as "President" anymore?

I don't KNOW that there was anything going on there, but it sure seems plausible.
