Hi, I would like to write or send a package to one of our soldiers over seas. I believe in the right for freedom, liberty, & justice. I looked at some other sites(operation military support & dear abby, etc) & they are back logged. They post that they are actually out of names. I know that I probably shouldn't be posting this on this board b/c I do not have someone over seas. I apologize for this intrusion if I offend anyone. My husband served in Vietnam for the army. My father was in WWII as a sgt. My uncle died in WWII at the Battle of the Bulge. I would like to give my support. You can find me at the Alternative recovery board & family matters board. Or email me at gemini56cr@hotmail.com. My prayers are with you all & may our troops come home soon!!!

That is wonderful that you would like to support the troops. Right now they are asking that only immediate family send packages because the postal service is backlogged over there. There are other ways to support troops right now as well. There are 72 soldiers in the hospital here in Germany. Maybe you could send something to them. If you are interested in something like that email me via this board. I'll be happy to help

I agree with Rose, while the thoughts are greatly appreciated, they have asked that non family members do not send any packages to frontline troops right now. There are of course many other people deployed to other locations who may not be on the front lines but their rolls are just as important. However many people are reluctant to give our mailing addresses to a virtual stranger online, please do not be offended, just so you know if you come up against this. One way you could help is to either do as Rose suggested OR possibly sign up to help a military family who is at home. I just saw the president give a speech about helping the military families by signing up thru your local American Legion or VFW to be on a call list, so say you offer to watch kids, or cut grass, or you are a plumber, and a military family contacts them for help, they will then call you. Also in our state the first lady is trying to set up a similarnetwork, in so doing you are helping a solider who is overseas by easing his mind that people back home are looking after his loved ones.

Good luck, I know this isn't exactly what you had in mind but hope it gives you some ideas.
