Well I finally got a written response from someone:

"Dear Mrs. _____________:

Thank you for contacting me recently regarding the media

and news about deployment of troops. It is a pleasure to hear from

As you may know, more than 500 journalists are embedded

among U.S. troops. This has revolutionized media coverage of

war. It has given us real insight and appreciation for those brave

men and women that are risking their lives so that we can live in a

free world. However, I share your concerns and agree with you

that family members should receive deployment information before

the media. In this new era of increasing technology we need to

achieve a balance between disseminating information and privacy.

Again, thank you for contacting me. Please continue to

keep me informed of the issues that are of importance to you.

Joe Barton

Member of Congress"

Mel and Rose and everyone,

Did any of you have the same luck?

Good job Stacey!

Wow! You actually heard back and someone actually READ the letter! This one is way better than that form letter response you got from that general awhile back.

As you can see from my response to you, I didn't get one stinkin' response. Not one.

Thank you so much for the hard work you did. Thank you, too, for sharing the responses you've been receiving.

I got a phone call from John Kline's office, not him but one of his staffers, unfortunately I wasn't home and it got left on the answering machine, but there was a lot of bla bla bla, mixed in with it that they had some sort of phone tree set up to notify families that apparently wasn't working very well (DO YA THINK ?) and thanks for notifying them bla bla bla, and they only gave the media news that would not "endanger" our troops bla bla bla. That's about all I remember from it.
