Super Mega Post...

Hello Ladies!

I hope you all are doing well. I want to apologize for not posting as much as I would love to. It has been a bit hectic and I am still getting used to the board. So now that I have made excuses for myself. I can get onto the important stuff.

I found the Puppy. LOL. After all that I had to do, I found the puppy 3 houses down. I was a bit frustrated with that one. I spent all day combing this neighborhood, I put up flyers, I went to the pound, I had to call my friend and let her know. And I finally found her 3 houses away. Its one of those things where I would like to give myself a swift kick in the butt. Oh well. At least we have her back. And my friend is no longer upset.

The puppy has really been doing a great job at letting me know where she is all the time. She has a great time keeping me up late at night, better than any colicy baby can do, including Lance, Melissa (just teasing). But like I said I am glad we have her. And we know she is safe. This has reinforced my standing on not being a dog person. I definitely am not a Dog person. Ill have to stick with my cat and his mental issues.

Ok now for some more uplifting stuff. Tomorrow is our FRG meeting and I have a few things I would like your opinion on. We NEED fundraisers, desperately. Our funds are super low. And so I have compiled a list of possible fundraisers. Here they are, tell me what you like.

We are definitely doing dog tags, with our unit insignia on them. That was decided last meeting.

I was thinking maybe we could put together a Deployment cookbook. Get as many people to submit recipes for their favorite easy meal to make when their soldier is away. What do you all think.

I was also thinking of suggesting a Chili cook off or dessert contest. Something to maybe get the whole base involved in. There is definitely places on post we could hold this. And I am sure we could collaborate with other units and make it a fundraiser for multiple units.

Lets see what else.....

Oh yeah, Our Dance Workshop is on the table for discussion tomorrow, wish us luck. Our FRG leader loves the idea. But our Rear Det Commander is a bit difficult.

Ok those are my ideas for fundraisers. I hope we can pick one. These people are being really difficult right now.

Ok now for my other opinion poll

I am getting ready to make some new jewelry for the spring. Ultimately I am going to be using very light transparent stones. I am going to use sueded leather with the stones. I just cant decide if I want to do a dark suede like Black and go Bold and Dramatic or a pale suede like beige and go Very spring. I would do both but the leather is a bit expensive for the project I am going to be doing. So what do you think?

Ok that is it for opinions.

Now I want to play a bit of catch up. I am sorry if I dont get everyone with this post. I am pretty tired. And my mind ran away a when the puppy did, yet I never got my mind back. I think it is on permanent vacation. Boy the Cabin Fever is really bad today. LOL

Welcome to the newbies. I am Anna, SAHM and Army wife in TX. I hope to see you all post often. And I am sure you will quickly find that the ladies on this board are a necessity to every military wife.

Nikole, cogratualtions on getting director that is great news.

And Marie. Hugs to you. I know it is hard to stick to your guns when getting all that Boys and Toys stuff dished out to you. And I hope you are able to get the point across to him so he will stop fussing over the 4 wheeler. Just to let you know, if you get a 4 wheeler you will also have to pay insurance on it, and maintenence. And it is just my opinion that if he is going to be deploying soon and he is putting so much time into getting level 7. Getting a 4 wheeler right now would just not be a good idea. It would just be sitting around collecting dust and sucking out extra money for insurance. Sorry just needed to put my 2 cents in.

And Congrats to Tiffany on your recent marriage. I hope you both have a long and happy life together.

Hugs to all who just said good bye to their husbands. Its hard. But I know you will get through it. And they are all in my prayers.

Ok, I think I am done for now. I hope you all have a great evening. I am off to bed, so the puppy can wake me up, just as I fall asleep.

P.S. Yippee they found one of the soldiers from the 507. Lets hope and pray they find all that are MIA and that they are alive and well.

Hi Anna,

I like all of your ideas for fundraisers! Nothing to add to those.

For your jewlery I'd go light and go spring. Leave the black for the winter lol

I'm running low on time but wanted to say HI and glad that puppy is back lol But remind your friend HE dug the hole you didn't ;-)

LOL! Whew! Your mega post was just that.....mega! LOL!

Ok, I'll just put my little 2 cents in...heehee

the fundraisers sound great, and I've always liked chili cook offs and desert raffles, and the like, I have always one the desert ones...LOL

as for the jewelry, I think the spring one would be beautiful. Save the bold for summer, after you've sold the spring ones, I'm so smart, aren't I? LOL!

Let me know when you have more up for sale, I'd like to take a look, and perhaps bid myself (I'm extremely new to the e-bay thing) I've signed up, just haven't done a darn thing with it yet! LOL!

I'm so glad you found the puppy! Now it can just go back to keeping you awake! Rofl!!

Love you,

Hi Anna!!

Boy, you weren't kidding when you said Super Mega Post! LOL I'm so glad you found the puppy and that your friend is no longer upset. I know for some people it's like losing a child. As for the fundraisers that's sounds good what you have, maybe putting together a car wash too or bake sale. Just some thoughts! And for the jewelry I think the light colors would be great for spring!

Hope you have a good day! Take care. Lots of hugs to you, and try and get out for a walk if you can! Release the cabin fever! LOL

Your FRG is really "together". I'm going to have to pick your brain for ideas!

I know that FRGs can work concession stands at MLB and NFL games and receive a portion of the profits. You're not close to any teams though, are you?

Do you have a CiCi's pizza near you? If you have an FRG meeting there, you'll receive a portion of the profits made from people in your group. (I'm 99% sure it's true for the whole chain... they did it in N.C., and they do it here.)

Does your MWR have a climbing wall, one of those jumper thingees for kids, etc? Maybe you could have a picnic with those and charge for their use. Of course, the climbing wall might not be of that much use if most of the soldiers are deployed.

Hmmm... that's all I can think of!
