I am so ready for my days off on Wednesday and Thursday even though they will probably be just as busy as the rest of my days are!

Hello, I'm new to this board. My name is Samantha & I''m a new Navy wife. My husband just graduated bootcamp about a month ago and started his Nuclear Engineering course today. We moved from Michigan to South Carolina and I'm finding the move a bit difficult to deal with. Since my husband will be gone for most of the day for the next 2 years I thought that I would try and pick up some new hobbies or try and make new friends. I loved being out and about with my family and friends when I was in Michigan but I know absolutely no one in this community and would love to hang out & meet our neighbors if they didn't already move out a week since we arrived.(4/5 of the houses closes to us are vaccant)

Hi Samantha. I am so sorry I have not been on sooner to see your post. I am Jenny and I am also a Navy wife. My husband is also a nuke. I have to tell you I am so jealous you are in SC. That was by far our favorite duty station. Of course we are from FL so the heat was no issue for us. I just loved the area. Currently we are in Upstate NY. My husband is an instructor at the prototype up here.
Yes your next couple of years will be a bit rough with the hours and studying he will be doing but hang in there. It has been a few years since we were there but there used to be an awesome MOPS group off base. You could probably just go to the MOPS web site see where they are located. It is a terrific way to meet other moms with young children and you don't need to find a sitter to go. There is also a very nice aquarium downtown. Mine girls loved it even when they were little. We actually spent the extra to get the membership so we could just take off and walk around there anytime we wanted.
I hope you will stick around the board and I will try to keep an eye out for your posts in case you have any questions I can answer.

Hello. What a crazy busy week we have had. Appointments and volleyball camp for Hannah. I don't even know where the time went. Today we did nothing but sit around and watch Greys Anatomy season 2. : ) Thank goodness for netflix.

I had a busy week without internet access. We moved (again!), so I was doing a lot of unpacking and arranging things this week. DH is away for annual training, so it's just been me and the boys. I hope next week is a little calmer now that things are a bit more settled here. I can't wait for DH to get home from annual training.

Hey Samantha. Welcome to the board.

I know at one of the gyms on Ft. Hood, they had childcare available so people could drop their kiddos off at that and then go workout. You could look into that if you are interested in taking a class like Zumba. There are usually a lot of different classes offered at the gyms on base.

I hope you enjoyed your relaxing day. I laughed when you said you watched Greys Anatomy season 2 because that's the only season I didn't fully watch! I need to do that sometime :)
