Welcome to the board!

How flexible is your schedule? Does it at all work with your ex's? Is he willing to help figure out the schedule?

My family uses the Cozi calendar to coordinate our schedules. Have you ever heard of it? You can set it up so both of you have access to the calendar. Everyone's items can be color coded, too. The's also a mobile app so you can take your calendar with you. It's really helped us keep track of everything.

We are the ex with the FF schedule. We've had another challenge as we're also 3 hours away from my stepson. We have always gone to all of his soccer games, school functions, everything we could, so the 3 hours has never really affected him, just us - as it should be. Our schedule has always been a long distance parenting plan, so I'm not sure if you are in the same town or not, but probably from the sounds of it. Our long distance parenting plan was that we have him one weekend per month, our choice. That way we pick the one weekend DH has off. We alternate every major holiday every other year, then we get him for 7 weeks over the summer. We get 15 "flex days" during the school year, where we just let her know by wednesday evening that we would exercise flex days that weekend (for example if we were going to travel into town for a soccer game, we would want to have him for the weekend, so it wouldn't be a wasted trip). This schedule has worked VERY well for us. We use our flex time a lot, and our time with DJ is quality time and DH never has to take a lot of time off - but does when necessary no problem (we obviously will - that's the best reason to take time off ;). DJ is now 17, and we've been doing this a very long time.

what is your current schedule? how old is your son? is your ex's family around? just asking as that will help me if we get a chance to talk some more about this. (I used to work family law for years and years also so that might help)
