Darrrrn Now I have to tone down my Texas jokes. Haha Just kidding! I'm Glynn (20) engaged to Z (22) paid volunteer FF/EMT (working on his paramedic license). I'm the resident Oklahoman ;-), but I'm not a Sooners fan (Go Pokes! OSU) I don't have to deal with the schedule (yet), but I have some close friends who do, and I'm sure it's hard. I've lived alone (around an hour away from Z) for three years now, so I think the adjustment will be easier. I think you'll find you like when he's on shift sometimes because it gives you time to do stuff that you want to do, and eat what you want and you don't have to worry about if he will want to eat the same thing or watch the same thing. So congrats to your man, and to you for standing by him through academy. It may be rough for you to adjust to his schedule at first, but you'll learn it's not all a bad thing.

He'll be working 24 on, 48 off, so it shouldn't be too bad.

Did he get that all too important Fire Science degree from OSU? I bet that makes him the odd man out being down in Texas, but I think they like OSU fans down there better than Sooners fans ;-) Oh and I'm glad to finally have someone sort of from "my region."

Hi.

I've been just looking at the posts here and there for the last couple of weeks also. My boyfriend works at the local District Fire Station here in Louisiana and his shift is 24/48 and I love it. It's nice to have him home for 2 days and then one day to myself. lol It's actually a pretty nice schedule so far. And from what I can tell the ladies on here are some very wonderful women!

Welcome Michelle! I'm Gail, married to Tim for 21 years. We have two kids, Matthew is 19 and Brittany is 17. We live in Philly where Tim is a career FF/EMT/Haz Mat guy. I also work FT as a Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant.

I see someone pulled out your welcome wagon. I'm gonna go check that out. Pull up a chair and join in on the fun here!
