I was just curious if anyone else here listens in when your SO is on a bad fire? I know I shouldnt, but hearing his voice on the radio this morning..I hate hearing him panic. Now I cant turn it off.

Growing up, we had a radio at home that my mom would sometimes forget to put away. It can definitely be scary. Is your DH OK? Have you had a chance to talk to him since you heard him on the radio?

It sounds like a pretty serious fire. How is he doing today?

Glad he was ok in the end.  That panicky voice thing can be scary.  I always say a prayer when I hear that, no matter who is saying it.

And yes, I listen to my dh.  I like to hear his voice on the radio.  He's a police officer.  I don't listen at home anymore but I used to all the time, especially before kids (and at our old house, where there was a good central location for the scanner and I could hear it no matter where in the house I was...I don't have that where I am now!)  I do have the scanner on at work though (except tonight when I forgot to check the volume, and someone had turned it down!)  And yes, I still pray.

My husband is a police officer. I know a lot of other police wives who have scanners and listen to their hubby's at work. My husband told me absolutely NOT. He does not want me listening to him at work. I never had the desire to anyway. The once was enough for me when I was listening to the police radio with him one day when something extreemely serious was going on and he was home hurt. Listening caused be such stress and trauma. I'd rather be happily oblivious to the dangers that police (and firemen) face when there is something serious going on.

I'm glad your hubby is okay!!! Isn't it funny that we get all stressed out where they get excited and a testosterone rush?
