My dh has all holidays off too, so his cheap city doesn't have to pay him holiday pay. So, he ended up with a nice 5-day weekend, the lucky duck. I, otoh, had to work the night before T'giving and also T'giving night...but I made good holiday pay so I didn't care, LOL. We did have a nice family dinner with my parents and my uncle's family.

I suppose it's at good that your DH at least gets the day off. BIL would be made to go in and be paid in mystical "comp time," that never seems to materialize. :/

Grinchy towns, cities, and counties.

Yea, we've been down the "comp time" road. He has quite a few hours of that built up, too...yet he won't come home early even when he says he's going to in order to burn up some of the time. Devotion. Plus the fact that the local yokels all know what time his shift is, so they know they can wreak havoc if he's not there. The perils of a small-town department with only guy on at a time. So if he takes off early, he knows they'll figure out he's gone and cause trouble. I'm glad I can just come to work and leave at the end of my shift!
