Exercise (for the soul)

I know that a bunch of you said that you were doing actual, physical exercise-type stuff - but this post is not about that, because that isn't how I roll.

Instead, this post is an invitation to exercise a different set of "muscles".

Even though I would love to see the cheerleader moves...I do have some joy. My son and his gf do a duet speech together. It's funnier than hell. I went to the tournament Saturday and watched all three times they performed. And I was totally focused on them!! They were awesome and got 4th place out of 60!! Then Sunday 10 yo DD danced with her competition team. It was beautiful. Again, I was totally focused on her. They are my absolute joy! Daisy

You may think I am crazy. Save me a seat on the bus Kim! Where I am from it is cold and I work in a window less building, so when I step out for lunch and it is warm with the sun shining, I feel pure joy. It is actually that simple.

For me it is hearing my kids laugh, just that really heartfelt silly laughing. Knowing that they are still so innocent to the big, big world out there.

That brings me joy!

Last week, I went for a walk, late at night. It was freezing cold, but the stars were out and it was beautiful. Pure joy.

And I'm an overachevier (sometimes), so second thing, getting a good night hug from my child.

Hope we don’t have to pick just one!

  • When my kids reach their goals and share it with me.
  • Walking my dogs.
  • Working out in my garden (veggie & flower).
  • Completing home improvement projects (Sometimes I’m just happy they are done and over with and other times I find joy in the transformation that these hands had a part in.)
  • Making up words with hubby when we are playing word jumble.

Whether you think you can or you think you can't you are probably right. A parrot can repeat what it has learned but the mark of true intelligence is applying what is learned.

I have 3 kids under 10, which is really busy and sometimes very hard and frustrating.

BUT, they do supply me with a lot of joy.

This one is a no brainer for me. Spending time with my grandson. Just being with him brings me more joy than anything else. Having him give me kisses and hugs out of the blue lifts me up each time. He will also tell me he loves at random moments. Such as when we are getting in the car & I am buckling up his seat belt he will just say mom, I love you. Nothing better than that!

I had a moment of sheer joy this week - it was a beautiful sunny morning and I was riding downhill on my new blue bike wearing a pretty dress and barefeet with a homebaked cake in the cane basket on the front. I had never done it before and yet in that moment I was living the "essence of me". I wasn't a mum or a daughter or a wife or a friend or a colleague or an xAP. I was just ME and I felt perfect joy.
