I am not familiar with your specific story, but if this potential run in has the potential to draw you back into the A, don't go.

I agree with Angie, if you're drinking you can go there with as much strength and determination but once there an innocent conversation can put you back to square one...been there, done that.

Do you know he will be there? Can you find out? If you do go, you need a plan of action in case a situation arises.

If you have been avoiding him, and he you, then it should be the same if you run into him. Has he tried to contact you? I am not aware of your ending story, sorry.

I could not go. It would hurt too much. Others have navigated those situations though. Good luck.

If you do decide to go, stay close to your husband, that should keep xAP at bay.

Can you make some sort of plan with your friend to meet for dinner before the party or something? That way you can still see her, but don't have to deal with any drama.

"i don't want to deny myself some fun just cuz he is going to be there."

Going to an event where you are going to have to constantly be on guard, constantly monitoring where he is and whether or not he is going to talk to you, constantly stressing about what he does or doesn't do... that is NOT fun.

I would very much try to arrange.some one on one time with your friend beforehand and skip the actual party.

Well, i've decided NOT to go after all...if even seeing him is causing me this much anxiety, i don't need to go and put myself in a position where i will regret it.
