The word "after" is very new to me. I have blocked and walked from a 12 yr affair, in small steps, but now it is all done and no communication avenues are possible. I made an attempt to end it

Welcome Daisy4, life has a way of interfering with our plans. Someday are good and some days are bad. But the peace you feel always comes back, even if you derail yourself once in a while. You have taken back you and the power for yourself. Cutting all communication ties is a huge step and a great way to lesson your chance of relapse, but unfortunately doesn't stop the triggers. This is a wonderful board, filled with caring and supportive people. There is no right or wrongs as this is your journey and we are here to help. So come and post, you'll soon see you are not alone in your thoughts and feelings. Hugs!

Thanks Sunny, for the welcome and support. I do recognize some names and remember the tremendous help I received the other time I was at this juncture, and in much worse shape. I hope to be able to offer the same to others when I can. I loved your phrase "the peace you feel always comes back." I will keep that close in my mind in the days to come. If I can replace the highs of the A with this feeling, I'll make it.

I'm glad you landed here.

We only miss what could have been. I know I don't miss what it really was.

Hi Daisy, I went back once after NC too. Not to the A but to that torturous place known as Superficial Friendville.
I wish you lots of peace and strength this time around.

We've got it this time, right chica? :)

Si chica, ya estamos! My undoing was a sudden scary hospitalization with a bad outlook, within two daysof going NC - saw stars and flaming/pearly gates...but oh yeah, came out of that, so this time should be better. Thanks for posting

Hi Daisy4 - and welcome! :)

You will see familiar names here (there's crossover in posting between here and EAS, as you'll see) and maybe some new ones as well.

The more support we can get, the better! :)

One minute at a time works just fine. Yes, there will be pitfalls - but whether you sail through them, or whether they cause a stumble or two, as long as you pick yourself back up, brush yourself off, and continue moving forward, you'll get there.

Hugs,

Kim

Thanks Kim, up early on Day 3 and feeling a bit hollow. I am not tempted so far to break NC, but fishing just in my memories sure feels good. Once I get moving I wll try not to think about it/us.

Your advice to me and to others others to dust off when necessary and to keep the forward momentum is good. It's like swimming towards a goal and sometimes you're in open calm water and other times tangled in weeds - but as long as you keep swimming you'll get there. Cursing out the weeds is not where you want to dwell..

Early morning is the worst time for me, too. I always awoke to an em. Every morn for 5 years. It was my first priority, sadly. That first hit.
