How would you interpret this?

Been stewing over this for weeks and I'd like some feedback ... am I making something out of nothing?

H and I were eating out at a place we go to often. It was going okay, pretty typical. Toward the end a woman came by our table really quick and before I knew it DUMPED a drink over H's head and ran out. I only got a glimpse of her and she did not look familiar.

H didn't seem shocked really, just startled. I was really embarrassed, everyone was staring at us. He cleaned himself up and we paid and left. He said he didn't recognize the woman, barely got a look at her. He was not as mad as I thought he would be. He's a cop and wound up pretty tight and goes off on a lot of things ... what do you think?

I would think that either this was a huge case of mistaken identity or she is having an affair with him and freaked out when she saw him with another woman. If he's having an affair with her he probably did not tell her that he was married.

I don't think it was a case of mistaken identity. Like you said, he's a cop and goes off alot. He knew that woman and he's lying to you.

Sorry.

Personally, I would think that he was having an affair with her and she didn't know about you. Especially since he wasn't shocked by it. However, depending on honest you believe that he is, there is a SMALL outside chance that perhaps it was workrelated and maybe he arrested her boyfriend or something.

Good luck. I truly hope for you he isn't having an affair.

?? No, that wouldn't make sense I don't think! I wasn't asking about me but about the event, just wondering if I have anything to worry about. I try to put it out of my mind but I can't ::sigh::

I would think that, if a woman is planning on dumping a drink over a man's head, she is going to be absolutely sure that it's really him.

I agree with that but was really trying to give the situation any slim benefit of the doubt when I stated that. Now that I think about it though, if this guy is a cop and some random woman he never saw before came and dumped a drink on his head, you'd think he would have gone after her for what she did. For a cop to sit there and not run after her and confront her (or anyone else that did that) is highly unlikely.

That's a very good point.

Well, I really kinda doubt many women would dump a drink over somebody's head lightly - I'd imagine she'd make darned SURE she was soaking the right person first. That's what I think.
