Made it through PTA last night

Normally my W and I attend all of the Parent Teacher conferences for our girls. Last night I did it solo and I made it through.

A couple of the teachers mentioned that my middle daughter, Julie, seems a bit "off". I explained that we are just over the holidays and she will be fine.

My oldest two are still well, thank God, and my youngest is starting to pay attention more. Sarah is the social butterfly of the family. She is smart and funny. This girl has my gift of "Blarney"...

I came out of school and my FIL was waiting for me.

Hi Jack,

I haven't posted here in a few days...I have also been trying to survive the week now that H is back in town.

The first parent teacher conference after Dday was difficult for me too. I did pull the teacher aside and filled her in on the situation so if anything came up( behavior problems, crying, drop in grades/study habits) that she would be aware of the underlying problem. And if you think about it, the teachers see and spend a lot of time with your children and can pick up on subtle things that could lead to larger issues. I did ask that the conversation remain confidential. My child's teacher was very kind and happy to keep an extra eye on my child---it really helped. He did have some anger and behavior changes that we were able to deal with promptly. He has cried at school, and you know as a 4th grade boy, that is so not cool in front of your peers.

I have been wondering how you are doing. Have you spoken to DH yet?

I hope that you are well. Remember we WILL get through this. It is not an option to fail. We will succeed in WHATEVER choices we make.

We are smart, intelligent and worth alot more than we are given credit for.

I was thinking about telling the teahcers what was going on but with 4 daughters and atleast 12 teachers involved I don't want the whole town to know. I don't want my girls be teased and taunted.

I am still struggling with this one. I may take it as a wait and see item.
