I've been a lurker for about 6 months - when I found out my husband of 16 years slept with another woman.

I too skipped the whole card thing this year.

I remember going shopping for birthday cards and like you, found nothing that was true....I couldn't say he is faithful, or always there for me, or even my best friend.

I went home and took a hot bath and cried and cried and thought about what I could say.

I bet if you got a show of hands on this one, it'd create a tornado.

Wow, I can't believe this was as big of an issue for other people, too.

Oh yeah, I have no doubt the "card thing" is familiar to lots of us.

Ok, show of hands for all the cards from WS that we saved and have since ripped up because when those cards were given to us, the A was in full swing at the time? On our 25 yr anniversary, H gave me one of those lovey cards but NOTHING else (25 years!!). Come to find out two weeks later that the affair was in full swing hot and heavy at that time. Now here I am two years later and just like you all, I have trouble buying cards and sadly will never be able to buy one of those cards that say how great our lives have ALWAYS been together. He gave me an anniversary card last year that says "I would marry you all over again". I can honestly say that I will never be able to buy him a card like that.

I'm with you all on the buying card thing. And, yes, I've done the rip up some old cards from WS as well. That was actually quite cathartic.

For me, Valentine's Day is the worst! Ugh!
