Not a personality flaw at all! It's been extremely difficult for me too. I used to love romantic comedies. I can't watch them anymore. I used to think it was us, our story on the screen, that's ruined. When he listens to music I haven't heard (we both love thd same music), I get sick wondering if they listened to that together. There is one place I know they ate together where we live right now, and I can't go there. Luckily we are moving across the country in a couple weeks and I am hoping that will help. Like you, I connect events in my life with music, movies, and dates. It's made it very difficult. So no, it's NOT just you!

Wow, I never thought there were others that shared this perspective.

Many of us have had the same feelings. My DH's first EAP lived in Vermont, and I found anything about HER so offensive I nearly hate the state of Vermont now! His second lives near Boston and now I don't want to go anywhere near there! Extreme reactions, but it's just natural you can't handle going places they might have shared, esp. if he was sooooo insensitive about the restaurants, he sounds like a one note Charlie in his thinking. Things really do feel tainted, that's the perfect word. There's no quick fix, just take it day by day and keep coming here, you may have some aha moments here.
