I'm 31 and me and my boyfriend of the last 10 years broke up on Sunday.

We've had a lot of ups and downs but the last year has been particularly hard with my problems of financial issues, losing my apartment and moving in with him for a few months, some alcohol abuse and his problems with commitment and impotency. We've been best friends since we were 19 and we are talking about continuing that friendship and then seeing how it goes once we start dating other people (which I can't even think about without throwing up b/c I don't want him seeing other girls). We haven't even told his family and our friends yet b/c we don't want to ruin the holidays for them and we want to tell them at a better time.

I don't know what I'm saying here or what I need but I'm going out of my f'ing mind.

I think keeping the break up a secret is harder on you. By keeping this secret, you have to suffer in silence. No support. No shoulder to cry on. Is that what you really think is best?

Sorry you have to go through this.
