Does any one have advice on staying strong through the initial couple of weeks of breaking up? Broke up w/ BF of 2 years on Labor Day, asked for no contact, and now just need to get on and don't want to think about it anymore.

Anyone have some great ideas to get through the weekend?

Thanks!

Rent a whole bunch of movies, call some friends over and veg. Or go to yardsales during the mornings....don't need to buy anything, just grab a friend, or go by yourself. Read a book...outside. Enjoy the weather, if it's nice out. Go on a nature walk. Clean your place..top to bottom!!! Do something that you've been putting off for a long time...and get it done!!

Not sure what else to suggest, but I'm sure some other people around here have some good ideas!!

This is a tough one cuz you just want to sit and stare at the wall for 2 weeks. What has helped me alot is I started taking my dance classes again. Writing in a journal REALLY helps and I write letters to him (which he will never see of coarse). I talk to my friends alot and go shopping. Like Karen said, movies are a good escape to. I also started repainting my bathroom. Do something positive that makes you happy!

If you rent movies, rent mysteries or comedies, no love stories!

Get out. Read. Anything but sit around. (Thinking)

With every passing day, it hurts a little less.

When you think of him, picture him in a doorway, and close the door. Kind of like closing a chapter in your life. One that you learned from. What to do or not to do.

(Advise from my therapist.)

That works for me.

Other times, you just have to feel the grief in order to get past it.

Good luck!
